The reverse featuring a pair of White-tailed Tropic birds denote the Fiat value of 100 Rupee that is equivalent to $9.60 CAD at the time of this article. A product of the Royal Mint and a total mintage of this beautiful coin are a mere 8,528 coins! Today the Seychelles archipelago, or more accurately the Republic of Seychelles, established in 1976, is a collection of 115 islands located in the Indian Ocean just north and by northeast of Madagascar. There is a population of 94,000 people spread over on just 459 sq. kilometers.

While this region has plenty of political, environmental and of course current day Pirate issues, with over a hundred islands here there could still dwell plenty of old tales about old Pirate hijinks lurking about from the local Island Hopping tours.

And according to an archeological study there have been a pirate presence before the English, French colonial even before any permanent settlements at times prior. Since there's yet to be any historical research we can afford a wee bit o' creative license.

Perhaps the ghosts of the past can still whisper one tale of a ship named The Silverton under the command of one Captain Joshua Slane two hundred and fifty years ago.
