Graduation Prep Diaries: Toga Hunting With Friends
One major part during graduation is students wearing their toga. As someone who did not really get to experience wearing a toga during Grade 6 because of Covid at that time, this feels very special to me. But I actually got to experience wearing a toga but that was 10 years ago, back when I was still in daycare.
That is why I am super excited to finally wear a toga agaian this time. I know I am not the only one who feels excited, probably almost everyone in our batch, especially my friends.
TOGA HUNTING 101
To be honest, I really thought that the school would provide the toga, so I was honestly shocked when our adviser told us that we had to look for and rent our own toga.
There was actually a place near our school that rented out togas, but my friend and I really did not like the fabric they used because it was very thin, and for us, it just did not feel worth it.
Then one of my friend's acquaintances also offers toga rentals, and she said the fabric was nice because it was silk and it was also affordable. That's why we decided to go for it.
Thank you, Papa.
Ever since I started high school, my dad has always been the one to bring me to school and everywhere I need to go. Even now, when I had to go try on and get fitted for the toga, he still brought me. I love you, Papa. Thank you for everything.
I honestly don’t know how I will commute when I get to college because my dad won’t be able to go with me anymore, which means he won’t be able to bring me like he always does.
Superstitions
Some people really believe in graduation superstitions like “graduating students should be extra careful.” Honestly, my friends and I kind of believe in it too, which is why we were really cautiouss while we were out. We even avoided taking photos while wearing the toga because there’s this belief that it might prevent the graduation from pusshing through.
Bonding With Friends
After we tried on the toga, we decided to eat at a mini café nearby. The picture above shows what we ordered. Honestly, I did not like the smoothie because it was way too sweet, and as someone who is not really into very sweet drinks, it was a no for me.
After we ate, we decided to stroll around. Guys, we actually walked from Tambongon to Lambusan as a sort of “exercise” walk, but of course we still made sure to be careful the whole time. While walking, we found a really beautiful spot. It was so nice in person—it looked almost unreal, like a passage leading to another world. It was one of those places where you just stop for a moment and admire how pretty everything is.
So after we walked from Tambongon to Lambusan, we ended up walking back again from Lambusan to Tambongon. My feet really started hurting on the way home, super duper painful, I swear.
And that would be all for this blog. See you in the next one!
