Hail fellow STEEM Sloths! This is the second of many weekly witness updates.
(Every friday I'll make a witness post highlighting my current STEEM witness progress)
This Week as STEEM Network Witness in Brief
Construction continues on the steem.global news site / seed node project with major changes hopefully implemented over the course of the upcoming week to improve user experience and ease of information access to matters pertaining to our network and her inhabitants.
News also broke earlier this week that a highly reputation ranked account had started plagiarizing artwork from other social media networks and was attempting to pass off the illustrations as thier own. The community has since then been alerted to the potential of high reputation accounts "going rogue" and the accused has issued an apology post.
Waiting on Word Back From Coinpayments.net Admin
When more information on the progress is given I'll be sure to relay it on my blog for the STEEM community.
Originally their admin had estimated it would be done the end of this week, so hopefully we see this happen.
UPDATE: The Coinpayments.net admin just replied to my email, see below:
steem.global News / Seed node Updates Started
Last week I announced the launch of http://steem.global which serves as a STEEM seed node and news site. Unfortunately I was unable to put the time I would have liked to put into it this week but I've found some time this weekend to start getting the site fully operational and get some STEEM Network News rolling for those interested. This is an ongoing project and hopefully within the next few months the site will move out of the online beta and become a hub of STEEM news.
If you're an investigative journalist who enjoys staying on top and reporting breaking stories and news on the STEEM network please feel free to get in contact with me if you'd like to contribute to the site.
Helping Uncover High Reputation Content Thieves
It was brought to my attention by and other members of the steemitabuse-classic team that a highly reputable account on our network had posted artwork from a well known twitter artist & claimed that he'd created the image. While most accounts in our community are lower reputation than the account brought into light by the accusations and most refused to get involved out of fear of revenge flagging, it was decided by myself that someone had to make this story public.
While I entirely commend the fact that as a community we were able to detect, call out and in the end seemingly come to a proper understanding from all parties involved.. It has got to be mentioned that with this incident we've likely only just uncovered the tip of the iceberg in regards to users farming reputation with well written original content then opting to take the "easy way" out and pilfer others work under the guise of their own for profits.
Hopefully in the future we see less plagiarism & more honest effort from this user to create original content.
