In Japan, developed a "smart" shopping basket for the supermarket. Now it is being tested in the commercial network of the city of Osaka, and it is planned to widely introduce it in 2018, if the basket shows itself well on probation.
The Japanese shopping basket itself scans the electronic tags on the goods, calculates the total cost of purchases. When you exit the trading hall, the basket is placed on a special rack. While the buyer pays, the bottom of the basket is shifted, and the goods are neatly placed in a plastic bag.
As the creators of the "clever" basket explained, they did not at all try to completely replace the cashiers with electronic devices. The main goal is to reduce queues at the checkout, speed up the process of payment for purchases, prevent errors when scanning goods.
Recall, in shopping centers are already actively used robots-guards, and in the warehouses - robots-couriers.
