Hey, Steemit! Coming to you during the early morning hours, I’m just getting home from . Last night,
has a disruptive sleep, which had me waking up several times to check on him. I slept late after dropping him off at school, which meant a relatively unproductive morning. I met
at the coffee shop for some wildly competitive MTG games, then spent the rest of the night editing. I came home to homemade Hungarian goulash that I’d started just before I left for the evening. Six hours in the slow cooker was perfect. Now I’m full and winding down in bed.
The next few days are going to start getting crazy. Tomorrow, has his winter concert at school and I promised him we’d have a family night in. We’ll all be watching movies and taking it easy. It’ll be the last opportunity to relax before the holiday madness. Starting Friday, I’ll be visiting friends in the afternoon, then meeting with
that evening to work on
. Saturday I have a shoot, then Christmas Eve, then Christmas. I’m just grateful I’m not on the road this holiday. The last few years, I’ve been traveling during the holidays.
Some of the work I have to show tonight is from a client I photographed in the Spring. Her name is Renee and this was one of her first professional shoots […maybe her first if I recall]. I love working with clients that are new to shooting. Over the last 20 years, I’ve becoming confident and comfortable in my style of dark pinup photography, but I take a lot of pride in my ability to work and direct women […and sometimes men] that have never been in front of a camera. Because I don’t use lighting or a studio, it typically feels like we’re just hanging out.
Renee seemed relaxed from our first photos together, and as we went through the house taking pictures, she became even more engaged with the camera. She wanted to show a strong, femme fatale persona, the likes of a Frank Miller character in Sin City. The estate was the perfect backdrop and her choice to bring a riding crop was even more complimentary to the wardrobe and overall theme. I was able to make some dramatic film noir-esk images that I’ll eventually look at in black and white. Such a great shoot with such a great model.
Thanks for reading. This is another night that I must apologize for Trial by Comics being delayed. I’m still finishing up the artwork and that’s the only thing holding the new post back. This was a theme I’ve wanted to do for over a year. I’m so surprised that I’m struggling with getting it right. The good news is, I love what I now have. I just have to finish the rendering and details. It’ll be worth it. Promise. For more photography, art, illustration and the stories behind the work, follow me here !
