Almost 2:30a.m., so I’m slipping back in to bad habits. Twice a month, I have Minneapolis Green Zone Task Force meetings. I have a resident position on the committee, so it’s a responsibility I’ve grown to take seriously and enjoy, but it throws off my work flow. Tonight, I got home at 8:00p.m., watched [some of] The Sound of Music with , then ran to
for an hour or two of editing. I really can’t afford to fall further behind with work I owe clients, so the only solution was to cut in to the midnight oil overtime.
I have some new work with a pinup model I shot with during Viva Las Vegas in April. She goes by The Craft Beer Pinup and she was in Vegas for The Rockabilly Weekend, all the way from London. This shoot could have been a disaster. My book signing with ran over, one of the models I had scheduled that evening ran late, and the other arrived early. We all met at The Artisan Hotel and it was a triage on how to do two shoots at virtually the same time. Both clients were flexible and understanding of the circumstances but it was very stressful.
The Craft Beer Pinup, or Kimberly, as I got to know her, would dip in and our of the room between outfit changes with the other model […whom I’ll most likely be editing tomorrow night]. Fortunately, I’m very familiar with the lighting and decor at The Artisan. I’ve been shooting there for years and it’s a comfortable space for me to create dark pinup work. Kimberly took wonderful direction and her overall attitude gave me positive and creative energy for the duration of the shoot. She seemed just happy to be there, and that helped calm my nerves.
I’m happy to say, after all this time, this was the last set of photos I owed the Craft Beer Pinup. I’ll be sending these along to her as soon as I make this post, and being that she’s a London resident, she should just be waking up. I need to keep my head down the rest of this week and finish edits for La Femme En Noir and , and some more clients from Australia and New Zealand.
