What’s up, Hive? It’s that time. Sitting down to write an evening blog post after a very busy day. I managed to sleep in a bit, then ran to get from his brother’s place. After that,
and I met up at my favorite pho place and had lunch, the ran and got food from the pet store for the snakes and tarantulas. It’s Pride here in Minneapolis, so the evening was awash with people. I managed to drive through a lot of uptown traffic and huddle in to my favorite booth at
. There I worked on a few new photos which I’ll be sharing here tonight.
Last year, I finally met and worked with Minneapolis goth model, Kyrie Koffin. We were bound to cross paths as we have several mutual friends. They say Minneapolis has a, “big city, small town” feel and because of that, artists that come up together do tend to gravitate towards one another. Eventually, Kyrie and I discovered that we’re both Leo’s, and then we realized we share a birthday! We decided that to celebrate our birthdays, we would set up our fateful collaboration and these photos are from that day.
We met at her place in uptown Minneapolis and drove to Stillwater, Minnesota, about 35 minutes outside of the city. We booked a room at a historic bed and breakfast and set up. I gave her an introduction to my unique approach to shooting with only available light, then we began. Kyrie is as professional of a model as you can get, and her experience and presence in front of the camera was apparent from the first few frames. We shot for about 90 minutes over two looks, utilizing every area of the location.
Kyrie and I spoke today and decided we should make this twinning birthday shoot an annual tradition, so next month, we’ll be setting up again to create new art together. For the rest of the night, I’ll be reviewing the last remaining gems hidden in the folder from last years collaboration. After that, I’ll be working on some illustration and trying to map out my EOS zine, Immutable Realms that was funded through Pomelo. So many projects in parallel. Good night!
