Anyone who has ever visited or lived in Crimea is very well aware of the bird/chinchilla/ferret/and what not scams that just happen to be so popular around here. The trick is a person with an animal tries to attract your attention to it and suggests you take a picture of it, saying it is either free or donation based.
Usually I never fall into those traps and just state it right away that I am not interested. This time however I thought it would be cool to just take a picture of a bird by itself, as soon as I did, the person holding the bird, started putting it on my wrist, on my shoulder encouraging me and my friends to take more shots.
Long story short, we ended up taking all kinds of pictures with the bird, all of us, in the end the person made us pay a set price for all of the photos taken. A price that never was announced, the entire time we thought we were taking pictures for free haha, SO DUMB! I have never felt so fooled before. Oh well.
Enjoy them birds!
Looking back however, I could probably just walk away and tell them that I don't have cash or whatever, maybe next time I will only say that I can pay in crypto? Who knows? Either way, if you ever happen to find yourself in Crimea and someone asks you if you want a picture with an animal for free, keep in mind you will have to pay.
At least the sky was nice!
EDIT: thanks for all the upvotes, looks like I made my money back :)
