I went to an organic herbs and spices garden in Quebec a few days ago, called Clef des Champs, which means "key of the fields".
My girlfriend is studying to be a naturopath and herbalist, so she really wanted to go here. We drove for about an hour to get there and then came back later that day.
They allow guided or self tours that allow you to discover various plants and learn about them.
It was a really nice place with several terraces on a mountain used to grow all their plants.
The trail to start the tour begins with a nice little trail going up the small mountain, with some exposed roots that act as footing or stairs to get up.
The terraces are really nicely built from huge rocks holding back each layer. This is how it appears while looking down from midway up:
From the bottom you can see the huge rocks, but you can't really see each level though:
There is a great view over the surrounding small mountain ranges in Quebec as well:
A frog was sitting idly by as we passed by looking and learning about various plants:
At the end of the paths that wind up the mountain there is a nice little shack with a green roof that they also use to grow herbs on:
When I build a small home in the near future, I will be doing something similar I hope. maybe an earthship style of some sort. But to make use of the most space and grow things on the roof is something I would really like to do.
It was a nice trip that made the girlfriend happy :) Hope you enjoyed the view.
Thank you for your time and attention. Peace.
