On Saturday, March 8 the next meeting of the Practical Philosophy Club will again take place at the Kingdom (Biskupia St. 18/1). This time, we the topic is "Your civic duty". The meeting will start at 4:30 p.m., and the discussion will be held in English. Admission, as always, is free
/1. What is Civic Duty?
Is it just about fulfilling legal obligations as a citizen, or is it something deeper? Does it include moral responsibilities that aren’t written into law?
/2. What Are Your Responsibilities as a Citizen?
Beyond voting and paying taxes, what do you personally consider your civic duty?
/3. Self-Improvement vs. Social Responsibility
Is civic duty purely about contributing to society, or does it also involve optimizing yourself? Wouldn’t a stronger, wiser individual lead to a stronger society?
/4. How Civic Duties Evolve
As society changes, so do our responsibilities. If machines handle street cleaning, is littering still wrong? If AI takes over administrative roles, does voting remain as critical?
/5. Local vs. Global Duty
Should civic responsibility be limited to your own town or country, or do we also have obligations toward global issues? How do we determine where our duty lies?
/6. Challenging Society for the Greater Good
Have you ever gone against societal norms because you felt it was your true civic duty? What were the consequences?
/7. Balancing Individual and Collective Responsibility
Where should the line be drawn between personal responsibility and collective effort? Can one exist without the other?
/8. Enforcing Civic Duty
Should civic duty be voluntary, or should strict laws ensure that people contribute to society? What’s more effective—moral encouragement or legal enforcement?
