So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun that we did not want it to end. We are currently on the second topic for this week, which is “PAID INTERNS”.
But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic, which was “ONLINE VS PHYSICAL”.
This topic was geared toward each member of the community, telling us about their thoughts on the dangers of bullying, both online and physically, and then which one of the two was actually more dangerous and had more devastating effects.
We got to see that indeed, neither one is better than the other because they both have the ability to destroy the life of anyone who goes through them. What is needed are systems that will protect people from bullies and also punish the perpetrators, so such atrocities don’t keep happening. It was an enlightening topic, indeed.
For this topic, we went through every entry post, and that is every post with the #hl-exclusive & #hl-w214e1tag. And with the number of wonderful posts out there, it was quite difficult to make a selection. But eventually, we did just that. And so, the posts that will be featured not just for their exceptional content, but also for their level of engagement with other authors, will be listed below.

For this author, she shared her experience with bullying with us and told us about how it only got easier to do because of technology. She thinks that while all forms of bullying are terrible, it’s actually worse when done online because it’s being done by people you don’t even know, and it can escalate to the point of ruining your life.

However, she also thinks it’s worse online, because a lot of the people who take pleasure in bullying others online are those who would ordinarily never be able to try the same thing if they could physically. And even worse, it’s underestimated because people treat it as mere words said online, not enticing the impacts such words are having on the victims.”

This author told us that physical bullying has a direct and immediate impact on the victims, and while online bullying follows a different path, the result is still the same. What is needed is a strong system where such acts are punished, and everyone involved is made to face the full wrath of the law. This is because the effects of bullying can last for the entire lifespan of the victim.
