So guys, I'm going to keep this short and sweet
I bet a lot of you are wondering what that number beside your name means. I know I did. (Currently my number is resting at a six). As I said in the title 9 is the highest number possible, -8 is the lowest (poor wang). A majority of the SteemIt community rests at a score of 1. (34,455 users are at a 1 to be exact).
Your reputation number is based on the amount of up votes and flags that you have received this far in SteemIt.
This is great because the better the reputation you have (a higher number is better), the more influence you have on others’ reputation. Not only can you help other awesome Steemians build credibility (and their reputation), you can help defeat “spammy” and bad content. (Not to mention combat bad bots!) It will also help us choose good articles to read because we all know, that no one has time to read all of them! (Although, I try being as I live on here).
For users with lower reputation scores this is not so great. You will have little (if any) influence on the reputation of others. If your score happens to be very low your comments won't even appear. So keep your rep up!
Reputation scores will help people focus on what's important, positive feedback from the right people. Whether you've thought about it or not you're building a brand for yourself here with your content. With dollar signs attached to our posts it’s hard to think of anything that didn’t earn money as successful. Reputation scores give us that extra little push to keep grinding. If you keep your head up you will be successful, as long as you focus on quality!
Thanks for reading! This post will be updated throughout the day as I learn more about it.
