Place of Peace
My company has an office in Madrid and those employees come to visit and train in our cooperate office in Florida. As you can imagine when they visit, we often chat about the differences in culture, language, and architect . During their last visit, the guys mentioned wanting to come to church with me. I assumed, it was because they loved Jesus.
Regardless of which country you visit in Europe. One must always visit the local church.
What they call church, I consider a cathedral. Apparently, regardless of your belief these buildings are always a tourist and local attraction. Many even attend mass to fully experience the beauty of the building.
Why would or how can a church service enhance the beauty of a building, I wondered?
My favorite place to visit ended up being the churches. Tall ceilings, dim lights, beautiful stain glass window, and the feeling of peace.
Some find peace in the outdoors, some with the ocean, and I found a similar feeling in these churches.
The silence inside allowed your mind to rest.

The dim lights was calming without the added fear of the unknown that comes from dark corners. Above it all, the acoustic inside was made perfect for hymn singing. I haven't started my vocal lessons yet, but had I, I would have sung. Especially in the first church we visited. We were the only ones inside and it would have been awesome to worship.
Most would love the art. Most would appreciate the unique design, and all walk inside in silence paying respect to this place of worship. I really wanted to attend a church service, but we ended up sleeping in on Sunday. There is a lot that we were able to do on this trip. When I return I will be more specific as to the places I would like to visit. Like buying mugs, visiting the local place of worship is on my place of must see/experience/visit.
