I used to feel pretty much young, now it's dawn on me that am getting older. I used to wonder what it feels like to be an adult, until the responsibilities that comes with being an adult hit me hard; being responsible for myself and being responsible for others.
Today ushered in another great year for me. Yes, I know it's going to be a great year but I feel varied emotions today because life sometimes can be unpredictable and this great year would sure come with greater responsibilities.
Peter Parker(Spider man) said 'with great power comes great responsibilities'
For me, I would say 'with each new great year comes greater responsibilities. Amidst the varied emotions I feel right now, there are a lot of things I am grateful for. I would love to share a few with you, may be you would find something to always be grateful for.
Life.
Growing up, I always here people say "as long as there is life, there is hope. You can only be hopeful if you have life. All our dreams and possibilities stems from having life.
A dead man cannot dream, cannot be hopeful neither is there any possibility for him. From my last birthday till now, I can count a few young people I know that have left this world due to their untimely death and all their hopes and dreams went with them.
I am grateful for life, I may not be where I want to be yet. But being alive is a pre-requisite to get there, So I am grateful.
Health.
Last week I got ill of malaria, well the only illness I have always had to deal with is malaria which is because of my genotype. You should know, those with Genotype AA always struggle with malaria.
Am grateful because simply taking anti-malaria drugs gets rid of the malaria and in a few days I go back to normal. people say malaria can kill, well malaria has not killed me. So,I am grateful.
Family.
Family is everything.
If you don't have one, then you are missing. Am a product of good parenting, so I am grateful. My parents had their flaws, but like we all know, no one is perfect. One thing am grateful for is the values I learnt from them.
My Four younger brothers are just amazing. It's with them I learnt how to take up responsibilities, with them you just have to be a 'big sister' especially when they call me from school to ask for financial support. Am grateful for my brothers!
Friends.
I am grateful for the few friends I have in my life. Friends they say are families you create for yourself. I may not keep in touch with them everyday,but whenever I do,they always have my back. They would carry me along any progress part with them.
Friendship is the reason I am here. A very close friend 
Steemit.
Yes, I am grateful for steemit. Steemit for me is a legacy that am living already. I have always wanted to own a blog but steemit gave it to me on a platter of gold. I have always considered writing an outlet for my emotions and steemit has made me a better writer.
Am grateful for my friends here on steemit, am also grateful for those I look up to here on steemit. You all have made my stay here worthwhile.
