First, some random facts about ADHD. Please, pay attention to the years.
The number of American children 4-17 who've been diagnosed with ADHD increased 42% between 2003 and 2011.
The first national survey that asked parents about ADHD was completed in 1997. Since that time, there has been a clear upward trend in national estimates of parent-reported ADHD diagnoses. The number of FDA-approved ADHD medications increased noticeably since the 1990s, after the introduction of long-acting formulations. Information taken from CDC
- 5.1 million children (8.8% or 1 in 11 of this age group 4-17 years) have a current diagnosis of ADHD. Data from the National Survey of Children’s Health 2003 to 2011.
Sales of stimulants to treat A.D.H.D. have more than doubled to $9 billion in 2012 from $4 billion in 2007. Stimulants like Ritalin or Adderall can lead to addiction, anxiety and occasionally psychosis. Article from The New York Times
The children mentioned in the above studies have obviously grown up by now. Some are in college.
They are the American young generation.
The question I'm asking myself – Is it possible that what we are seeing today on US campuses or in the streets is a side-effect of the extensive use of stimulants in the past 15 years? Think back to all the photos and videos you've seen in the past 12 months. How many times have you thought to yourself the people in those pics and videos are not normal? The freaks you cannot possibly tell whether they're male or female, the screeching protesters displaying what can only be called a feral behavior? Do you remember seeing anything similar 10 or 20 years ago? I don't.
Why is it that they can only be found in the US? Why not in France? Maybe because while in the US 9% of kids were diagnosed with ADHD and put on medication, in France only 0.5% of kids were given the same diagnostic and offered counseling and behavioral therapy? No years and years of taking addictive mind-altering drugs.
I leave you with some disturbing videos, NSFW, not safe if children are around.
