Some time ago I published on my profile a few photos of a rapeseed field captured against the background of a sunset. The photos I would like to show you today were taken in exactly the same place as back then, in the city of Metz in France. This time, however, I would like to show you frames that I took in daylight.
The photos come, of course, from last spring. Personally, I canβt wait until this year when I will start seeing those yellow oceans again. I had the impression last year that this view was almost chasing me, because along the highways there are many rapeseed fields growing and the sight is simply wonderful. The colors are so vivid and intense that it is truly very pleasing to the eye. I hope that this year I will also manage to find a place where I will be able to freely capture such fields in my photographs.
RAPESEED is one of the most important and probably one of the most widely cultivated crops in Europe, and it is grown mainly for the production of rapeseed oil. This plant belongs to the cabbage family, the same family that includes cabbage, broccoli and mustard.
Rapeseed begins to bloom in spring and creates vast, intensely yellow fields that in many regions of Europe have already become a symbol of this season. It is also worth adding that rapeseed is a plant of great importance for bees and other pollinating insects, because during the flowering period it produces very large amounts of nectar and pollen. It is a very valuable source of food for many insects. Rapeseed nectar is also used to produce the characteristic rapeseed honey with a light color.
