Spring seems to have settled in for good. And thankfully so because I was really missing those warm days. Of course every season has its positive sides and each one offers us beautiful landscapes, but somehow everyone seems to look forward to spring a bit more. Me too. π
Recently after a full day of work, I went for a short walk with the hope that I would come across some signs of spring that I could photograph. And thatβs exactly what happened. I came across an APPLE TREE.
The apple tree is, of course, one of the most common trees. It sometimes grows more βin the wild,β but in many places it is cultivated because of its tasty fruit. In theory every apple blossom has the potential to become an apple. In practice, however, the tree "knows" how many fruits it is able to support, which is why the excess flowers that were not properly pollinated or are simply weaker fall off.
Apple trees are cross-pollinated, which means that to set fruit they usually need pollen from a different variety of apple tree, not their own.
The apple tree often sheds some of its fruit already in May or June so that the remaining fruits can grow larger and fully ripen.
