Today I bring you the flower of Annona muricata (soursop). The genus Annona belongs to Annonaceae family
Annona species have a lot of spirally arranged stamens and pistils. Here you can see the beautiful white pistils ready to be pollinated
Look fleshy sepals and petals in this blossom
The flowers are very fragrant and attract mainly beetles that pollinated them
In this picture we can see that pistil (female part) is ready to be pollinated while stamens (male part) are still immature. This is a mechanism to promote cross pollination
All pollinated pistils are fused to form a compound fleshy fruit that is so tasty, Try it sometime.
