Cup-shaped cutlery protectors (ENG/ESP)

Happy start of the week, I hope you had a nice weekend and were able to rest.

My weekend was hectic, I had a lot of laundry to do and a lot of work to do, I feel that weekends are stronger for me.

All the more reason for Mondays to get me excited, the thought of sharing my projects with everyone, and seeing the ones you are sharing is fantastic.

Today I am making my entry to the contest of the month initiative called NEEDLEWORK YOUR KITCHEN. A contest that I loved and got very excited about.

This is a decorative cutlery holder, in the shape of a mug, inspired by rich coffee.

Feliz comienzo de semana, espero que hayan tenido un buen fin de semana y hayan podido descansar.

Mi fin de semana fue agitado, tuve mucha ropa que lavar y mucho trabajo que hacer, siento que los fines de semana son más fuertes para mi.
Razón de más para que los lunes me emocionen, pensar en compartir mis proyectos con todos, y ver los que ustedes comparten es fantástico.

Hoy hago mi entrada al concurso de la iniciativa del mes llamada NEEDLEWORK YOUR KITCHEN. Un concurso que me encantó y me hizo mucha ilusión.
Se trata de un portacubiertos decorativo, en forma de taza, inspirado en el rico café.

I love making this kind of art for our kitchens, it was a real surprise this contest, because this month I have been inspired to make accessories related to the kitchen, so I started to gather ideas and materials, to make something that was decorative, useful and that I have not done before.

In that brainstorming I really liked to make a cup with fabrics, sewn by hand, to place the cutlery we use for breakfast and desserts.

It is an ideal cup to place the cutlery, at the same time it protects them from any external contaminant, especially in this rainy season when the flies want to visit us; it can also be closed and transported in the purse to any place without losing them.

Then I will tell you part of what went into the making of this beautiful cutlery cup.

On a sheet of cardboard I made the drawing of the cup, taking the cutlery measures as a guide, then I cut it out separating it into 2 parts.

Hacer este tipo de arte para nuestras cocinas me encanta, fue una verdadera sorpresa este concurso, ya que este mes he estado inspiranda en hacer accesorios referentes a la cocina, asi que comence a reunir ideas y materiles, para hacer algo que fuera decorativo, util y que no haya hecho.

Me encanta hacer este tipo de arte para nuestras cocinas, ha sido toda una sorpresa este concurso, porque este mes me he inspirado para hacer accesorios relacionados con la cocina, así que me puse a recopilar ideas y materiales, para hacer algo que fuera decorativo, útil y que no hubiera hecho antes.

En esa lluvia de ideas, me gustó mucho hacer una taza con telas, cosida a mano, para colocar los cubiertos que usamos para el desayuno y los postres.
Es una taza ideal para colocar los cubiertos, a la vez que los protege de cualquier contaminante externo, sobre todo en esta época de lluvias cuando las moscas quieren visitarnos; también se puede cerrar y transportar en el bolso a cualquier lugar sin perderlos.

A continuación les contaré parte de lo que fue la elaboración de esta hermosa taza para cubiertos.
En una hoja de cartulina hice el dibujo de la taza, tomando como guía las medidas de los cubiertos, luego lo recorté separándolo en 2 partes.

Before transferring the pattern to the fabric, check with the cutlery to make sure everything is correct.

Antes de transferir el patrón a la tela, me asegure con los cubiertos que todo estuviera correcto.

Cut out the pieces, first cut out the thick fabric piece, which is the one that will give texture to this design, and is the one that goes underneath, then cut out the one that goes in front, and a piece of lace ribbon to decorate, this was the first thing I started to sew.

Recorte las piezas, primero recorte la pieza de tela gruesa, que es la que le va a dar textura a este diseño, y es la que va por debajo, luego recorte la que va de frente, y un trozo de cinta de encaje para decorar, esta fue lo primero que empecé a coser.

Then I sewed the handle, this step took me a long time, it is a delicate piece to make, so I preferred to sew everything by hand.

Luego cosí el asa, este paso me llevó mucho tiempo, es una pieza delicada de hacer, así que preferí coserlo todo a mano.

The next step was to place the pieces right sides together with the handle to sew in a U-shape, leaving the top open for turning.

El siguiente paso fue colocar las piezas con los lados derechos juntos con el asa para coser en forma de U, dejando la parte superior abierta para voltearla.

I turned the piece inside out and then sewed it to the top edge, folded the fabrics and sewed the border, then decorated with the colored buttons and some purple flowers.

I love that it can be folded and closed with a button and it will keep better in the kitchen drawers.

This work was very inspiring for me, I feel that every time I create something, ideas are activated and flow, I think it happens to all of us, and it is because of this feeling, that all artisans feel, that we do not give up or discard to continue creating.

I always tell my daughter to learn to love what our grandmothers did, it is not always to buy everything, all these activities are therapeutic, can be very helpful as a refuge to release stress, and help a lot to exercise attention, concentration.

Achieving a new project pleases me a lot, I feel that I release negative energies, so do not give up and do not say you do not know how to do something, if you really like it try it a thousand times, if necessary until you can do it better.

Le di la vuelta a la pieza y luego la cosí al borde superior, doblé las telas y cosí el borde, después decoré con los botones de colores y unas flores moradas.
Me encanta que se pueda doblar y cerrar con un botón, y que se conserve mejor en los cajones de la cocina.

Este trabajo fue muy inspirador para mi, siento que cada vez que creo algo, las ideas se activan y fluyen, creo que nos pasa a todos, y es por este sentimiento, que todos los artesanos sentimos, que no nos rendimos, ni descartamos para seguir creando.
Siempre le digo a mi hija que aprenda a amar lo que hacían nuestras abuelas, no siempre es comprarlo todo, todas estas actividades son terapéuticas, pueden ser muy útiles como refugio para liberar estrés, y ayudan mucho a ejercitar la atención, la concentración.

Lograr un nuevo proyecto me agrada mucho, siento que libero energías negativas, así que no te rindas y no digas que no sabes hacer algo, si realmente te gusta inténtalo mil veces, si es necesario hasta que puedas hacerlo mejor.
