I have good news for all my fellow couch and bed potatoes.
It turns out being active is far less healthy than staying in bed and studies are finally starting to prove this point. I have been trying to get people to listen to the merit of staying in bed since I was just a child and wanting to sleep instead of going to school. Of course, I was forced to go to school where I was made to even be physically active...running, playing. I rarely got any time in bed aside from the eight hours of sleep. But now experts are saying that we actually need closer to 20 hours a day in bed. The four hours that are not spent in bed should be spent eating and watching T.V on the couch.
If you have to not lay down then make sure to sit rather than standing. The raising of your heart rate when you stand or walk is dangerous!! You want to keep your heart rate as low as possible. Your heart is a muscle and working it out will make it bulkier which leads to a lot of complications. You want to keep the heart-rate incredibly low to avoid bulking up your heart which leads to heart failure.
But Laura I always heard that working out and staying active is healthy...
How can I stay entertained while making sure I don't accidentally work out?
The best option for making sure you are comfortable and entertained is with media. Try not to read too much because that may make you restless causing you to want to stretch your legs. I would stick to watching T.V. and playing video games. Avoid things like the wii or other games that encourage you to move around. Try mounting a TV to your wall and laying down in bed while you play. Careful not to get angry at the game and throw around your controller because you may accidentally get your heart pumping.
This post was inspired by 's satirical posts. She said she was fine with me doing some satire posts because I realized it looked like so much fun. Please don't spend all of your time in bed. I mean I do sometimes but I am not healthy and you need to move.
