I finished my next book for the year. It is called The Boyfirend by R. L. Stine. This is a teen fiction novel from the 90s that I read for fun, mainly just for nostalgia purposes and because it was a very easy read. This is the type of book that I just pick away at casually while I'm reading another primary book. What I mean by that is, I'll read something simple like this at night before bed when my brain is too tired to read anything serious that I need to pay a lot of attention to. As an example, normally I would read my childhood Goosebumps books in this way because they are a fun kick of childhood nostalgia and take almost no brain power whatsoever to read. I recently started collection the young adult book by R.L. Stine that go by the fear street title. They are simple, short and fun and great for lullying me to sleep at night. I started this one back in February and picked away at it a few pages at a time each night.
Synopsis
The story is about a very self centered young woman - late teens maybe, who's boyfriend dies in an accident and who comes back from the grave to haunt and torment her. Thats the just of it anyway. There is a twist along the way and in the end she learns a valuable lesson - sort of kind of.
The genre is horror but its not scary in the slightest, as you can imagine. I'm not even sure of this would be scary for even a 13 year old to be honest. Still it was a fun and easy read while I was tired and half falling asleep so I enjoyed it overall.
I'm adding it to my list of completed books for 2026 so I'm now only one book away from meeting my goal of reading 12 books for the year. Whoop whoop. I have a lot of short books on my list of completed ones so far but I'm okay with that.
