Hello, how are you? I've been liking ducks lately because a duck suddenly got here at our front yard and my dad put it in a cage we have and we are waiting for our neighbor to claim it, no one claim it until now their theory is that that duck got out from a truck that pass by because our house is just the side of the highway and made me think maybe it is possible LOL. Yeah, I am afraid to touch it, but once I am the one cleaning and feeding it, hehehe, and he/she loves taking a bath, haha.
So yeah, I am going to make a duck with bread as a headpiece, which I always see on social media, and it's so cute.
Materials I Used:
- Polymer Clay
- Glass Sheet
- Acrylic Stamping Block
- Alcohol
- Q-tip
- Dotting Tool
- Gum Container
- X-Acto Knife
- Tree Brush Tool
- Soft Pastels
- Paintbrush
- Eyepin
- Oven
- UV Resin
- UV Lamp
- Disposable Gloves
- Keychain
- Pliers
Craft Time!
I knead the clay using my hand to condition it. It is an important step to do it.
And then I shape it just like in the photo.
Dust and lint are the enemy of white polymer clay, so I clean it using alcohol and a qtip I rub it lightly and carefully to avoid any dent to the clay.
And the next thing I sculpt is the tail, which I form into this shape.
For the eyes, what I do is I add a reference dot for the eyes using the tiniest dotting tool I have.
And I added the beak.
And then for the feet, I form a ball and then flatten it using my hand, and then using the dotting tool, I added a dent just like its feet.
And then I carefully put it onto the body.
For the bread, I mix white and just a small amount of yellow, and then I shape it into a loaf of bread.
And then I cut the middle, which is where the face of the duck is.
To add texture, I use the tree brush tool, and to add shade, I use soft pastels and a brush.
It is time to add the bread to the duck.
Before I put the bread, I forgot to add blush to it, so I did LOL.
Time to add the eyepin.
Preheat the oven first before baking, and then bake it at the temperature and time as indicated on the packaging of the clay. And after that, let the clay cool down first before proceeding.
To make the clay more durable, I added UV Resin to it and apply using the dotting tool. I was supposed to use the brush I forgot hahaha.
To add the keychain, I will need two pliers. And then what I do is I put the jumpring into the eyepin.
And then lock it using the two pliers.
Did a little photoshoot.
Just a little bit of struggle, but worth it.
Thank you for visiting, see you on my next blog. :D
