I've been not active here at Hive since last year but that did not stop me from trying to draw digitally. I have a lot of art that I made that has been on my draft for a long time and now I have a lot of free time to be back again.
Looking back at my digital art before I ask myself "How did I do this?" LOL, I am still adjusting to my digital skills, heh and I'm still adjusting to my blogging skills too.
This hot weather here in the Philippines helps me to be productive I don't know why but I can't work with AC it makes me feel sleepy. So summer fires me up for real.
My goal for this art is a simple well made textured digital portrait
The Process
I did the line art not so detailed.
for the skin, I added a layer of saturated shadow so the place needed to have a shadow on it so It would not look so muddy, and for the hair instead of applying black the hair I applied darker blue so it would not look so flat and would be easier to render. And I added cloud behind which I always do lately.
The next thing I did was to add a sunflower in front of her I was supposed to add sunflowers behind her but it did not work so I drew in front of it. And for texture purposes, I use a pencil brush to add hatching texture to the shadow and highlights.
The next thing I did was add another layer with a blending mode of multiply and set the color to dark red and I painted again where the shadow is after that add a layer with a blending mode of addition for highlights I added highlights to the face, hair, sunflower because the light coming from the clouds reflects on it.
for the final touch, I added hoop earrings these are my dream earrings that look cool and I added more highlights to make them pop out more.
Maintaining art style is challenging for me sometimes I need to be mentally prepared, and maybe my muscle memory sometimes shuts down. I enjoy painting digitally lately.
How do you maintain your art style? or do you just go with the flow?
Thank you for stopping by. See you on my next blog.
