Hello Hive Fam!
I hope everyone is doing well despite the challenges we’re all facing. Today, I want to share something that’s been bothering me and probably many of us here in the Philippines: our electric bills.
This month, I was shocked to see my electric bill suddenly increase compared to last month. Not because I consumed more electricity, but because of additional charges that were added on top of the usual generation charge. These include:
• Transmission
• System Loss
• Distribution
• Senior Citizen
• Government Taxes
• Universal Charges
• Fit-All
• GEA-All
• Lifeline
As consumers, we understand some of these charges, like generation, transmission, and taxes. But why are we being asked to shoulder charges like senior citizen and lifeline? Shouldn’t these be covered by government programs instead of being passed on to ordinary consumers?
Life in the Philippines is already hard, especially for poor families who are struggling to survive day by day. Paying bills has become a heavy burden, and instead of helping us, it feels like the government is adding more weight to our shoulders. I honestly don’t understand what their real intention is. Are they trying to ease our struggles or make them worse?
Electricity is a basic necessity, yet the way charges are structured makes it feel like a luxury. Many of us are forced to cut back on other essentials just to keep the lights on.
I wanted to rant about this because it’s unfair and frustrating. We, the people, deserve better. Thank you, Hive Fam, for taking the time to read my thoughts. Let’s continue to speak up about issues that affect us all.
