RAYMOND (Heartland Newsfeed) -- Two new hires, a zoning board appointment and the purchase of a new truck for the street department was among items of business during the Raymond Village Board's meeting on Monday, Mar. 5 at the village hall.
With the 2018 golfing season quickly approaching in April, representatives from Shoal Creek Golf Course -- course superintendent Tom Irwin and pro shop manager Rachel Skinner -- were present at the meeting in preparation for the upcoming influx of golfers.
Skinner stated that employee Katie Meisner submitted her resignation and that another employee, Carrie Skinner, has submitted an application for consideration, ready to begin immediately. An application was received from Logan Pennock for the open greenskeeper position, which Irwin added will be needed around the first week of April.
Both Skinner and Pennock were approved for hire, as well as the acceptance of Meisner's resignation, with a 5-0 vote.
Irwin mentioned to the board that new windshields were needed for eight or nine carts and is able to secure the windshields for $75 apiece, following an extensive pricing search through several retailers.
Village President Dennis Held reported to the board that he received a letter from Joe Mizera, who has resigned from his post as chairman of the zoning board. He has spoken with Gregory Beck regarding taking over as chairman, with Beck consenting if approved by the board, which unanimously approved the motion.
Following several tablings of the matter, the board revisited the purchase of a new truck for the street department, opening and reading through the bids received. The winning bid came from Victory Lane Ford in Litchfield for a 2018 Ford F-250 4x4 priced at $28,183 with a potential $500 reduction. Following brief discussion, the board would approve the purchase 4-1, with trustee Robert Pennock being the sole dissenting vote.
Two additional motions were approved:
- Motion to hire Hurst-Rosche, Inc. of Hillsboro for engineering work regarding the village's new well, which will include bidding for the design and construction of the project. A presentation was given to the board by Scott Hunt.
- Motion to continue with the process of ordinance codification, which was mentioned in the February meetings.
With no additional business, the board adjourned at 7:55 p.m. Present at the meeting were village president Dennis Held, village clerk Susan Greenwalt, village treasurer Sally Broaddus, street superintendent Mike Masten, water superintendent Rick Broaddus, Tom Irwin and Rachel Skinner from Shoal Creek Golf Course and trustees Robert Pennock, Joe Martin, Greg Bernhardt and Kathy Summers.
