Deciding to go to the mountain town of Ela, we had the choice to go by car or by train. After reading many reviews, we decided to choose a train and did not regret it. It was a short but very positive trip. We were even allowed to enter the control room. The train is very comfortable and the price for the ticket is just ridiculous - about $ 5.
But the most important thing is of course the landscapes passing by. The train does not close the doors during the reefs so that people in the tambours can admire the views. And there is something to look at.
The road passes through the jungle, tea plantations and mountain passes. Go about three hours. And all three hours you do not get tired to turn your head to capture everything in your head that you see.
This is one of the oldest railway mariners in Sri Lanka. Such a trip is a great way to communicate with local residents and to look at their world from within.
