The police are moving on from harassing dogs to harassing nurses.
Police in Salt Lake City desperately attempted to extract an illegal blood sample from a man who was unconscious after striking a separate vehicle being pursued by the police.
The patient was not under arrest. The patient was not conscious, and therefore not able to consent. That left only one legal option for the police to pursue: a warrant.
The police didn't have a warrant.
Naturally, they decided the best thing to do would be to attempt to intimidate the nurse into breaking the law, then arrest her when she refused.
As expected, the police supervisor simply ignored the illegality of the situation and doubled down on their subordinates crime.
Police accountability is a key political issue, and this type of lawlessness from those intended to uphold the rules simply breeds widespread contempt for the law.
