Political parties in America have been around since very near the beginning of the country. A two party system began to arise in the 1790’s. We have now seen a republican or a democrat win every election since they began to be widely recognized. But with the recent election of Donald J. Trump, someone who fits no mold it appears that the walls of two party system are completely crashing.
The two party system has been a plague to American politics for a long time. When we were growing up we knew of only democrats or republicans. The mold to many seemed small and not very telling of the actual feelings of the American people, but if you're here you obviously have found at least one other party known as libertarians.
We saw this two party system come crashing down when the people of the US elected someone who was a democrat than ran as independent and finally won as a republican, Donald Trump.
The barrier has been shattered, the walls of a two party system can no longer hold now that Trump’s win has divided the republican party and that Hillary/Bernie’s loses have completely crushed the democrats. We as an American people have proved that we can overturn the radical powers of groups controlling us too tightly. We have shown that every vote does matter.
I urge all of you reading this to research these topics yourself and come up with your own opinions. This is just a short summary of the history of the two party system and the feelings of the people. In the end everyone must make their own decision whether to keep these parties alive or go back to a completely independant campaign of completely different people and ideas.
