Subway sandwiches are a reliable way to get lunch when I'm just looking to grab something fast at a reasonable price and it contain a good balance of meat and veggies.
I go there often and I saw something interesting today, so I walked in and ordered the sub as per usual, and noticed a man wearing those high-vis vests, he looked like a construction worker from the light rail project that is currently being constructed in the city.
The subway staff was fast in making our sandwiches, and soon we were at the checkout counter, ready to pay. So the staff handed the sub to him and he handed the cash to the staff, but then the man did something that seemed interesting to me.
He reached around to the back of his belt, grabbed one of those retractable rulers, and started to measure the sub. He took a second to carefully line up the ruler from end to end and then paused, before retracting the ruler and putting it back onto his belt.
I know there have been rumors that the Subway foot long sub, was shorter than a foot, but I never thought that someone should actually measure it in the store.
But hey, if you have a ruler handy, why not?
