The Cittadella, also known as the Castello, is the citadel of Victoria on the island of Gozo, Malta.
The Cittadella is built on a promontory overlooking the present day city of Victoria. This major landmark is located on a naturally defensible hill, dominating the surrounding countryside and having views of large parts of the coastline.
The citadel has been included on Malta's tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1998.
Today the Cittadella has regained its majestic peace and tranquillity and if you have not yet visited then this is one thing to plan for.
We were lucky to enjoy sunset from the top of the city’s centrepiece with a lavish view in full colour splendour.
There is no entrance fee.
