On a small island located just 90 miles south of Florida, you can find a special car culture.
Cuba is perhaps the only country in the world where classic American cars from the 1950s are used as taxis. They are a great way to visit the tourist sites, get to the hotel or airport etc.
But why are they still using these iconic cars instead of getting new ones?
After the Cuban Revolution in 1959, Fidel Castro made a ban to import cars from abroad but time has changed and in these days Cubans are free to import foreign cars, but as Cuba remains of the pooreet countires in the world, local people still cannot afford new cars. Therefore, they have to take care of their old cars and they do it with love.
Taking a ride in an old classic car is a must when in Cuba, no matter if you are into automotive history or not.
Stay awesome and Steem on!
