I have to admit that I'm not keen on the defacement of public property, but in this case, I'm going to make an exception. The building in the following image is the domed geodesic home of Science World, which holds scientific exhibits and a few cultural events like the Dragonboat festival and New Years Eve Party 🎊
Now, the geodesic dome- reimagined by architect Buckminster Fuller decades ago- is being transformed into a soccer ball. Genius!
As you can see, it is not finished yet. There's a FIFA exhibit inside that I hope to attend once the dome is fully set up.
And as a wild coincidence, I just learned that Buckminster Fuller's geodesic dome structure was the basis for the design of the modern soccer ball that was adopted in 1970. It has become the standard with 20 hexagons and 12 pentagons. Ole!
