Where is the path?
I am so lost.
I look behind and see what I left long ago.
I look ahead and cannot see where I want to be.
I stop and focus on where I am right now,
But the urge to move onward is strong within me,
The urge to run backwards equally so.
Yet I can’t go back,
No matter how hard I press the wall of time.
I can’t stand still either,
The ground is a magic carpet,
Forever forcing me forward into life,
Making me leave behind what I would keep,
Never to return to pick it up again,
For as I go the road twists and turns,
The path left behind,
Fading into insignificance,
For others, if not myself.
Where Beauty Lies
Come and see where Beauty lies,
Who slumbers in her sweet repose,
Lay your lips on her dreaming eyes,
Her eyelash brushes against your nose,
Remember now her graceful step,
Her nubile body caused your pulse to race,
Her porcelain skin caused your heart's misstep,
The timeless picture of her lineless face,
Remember also her great compassion,
And those she served in humble peace,
How she loved when it was out of fashion,
How she worked after day had ceased,
Rest your eyes on Beauty before you,
Though no longer has she a flawless exterior,
The bumps, bulges and wrinkles are new,
Still in beauty she has no superior,
Come and see where Beauty lies,
Kiss her lips so she will rise.
