Health experts said do not eat yogurt with an empty stomach, but how about adding it with multi layered dried fruits and nuts for a happy tummy?
This is something that I have learned to appreciate and enjoy during my brief almost 2 month's stay in Europe when I was backpacking to a few cities visiting friends.
And one of the most intriguing life-styles I have encountered, especially for North Western Europe, is that they, like Malaysians, love savoury food; just that their choices are just meat (and mostly ham) and bread.
Yet with so much heavy food they have, how do they actually digest them well enough?
One of them, would be yogurt (and usually mixed with berries and muesli)
And you know what? I usually have constipation if ever I work too hard and forgotten about water consumption, and during my stay there, with this adjustment of diet, I had no problem discharging my "slush"
(haha... I have to add 's pun intended choice of word)
But muesli are very expensive in Malaysia, moreover not everyone can work with that. And as usual, I would whip up my alternatives
Behold, my multi-layered mixed-fruits and sunflower seed Greek Yogurt!
I actually have already started accustomed to normal set Yogurt or natural yogurt (without sugar), but Greek yogurts actually has this good thick texture when you freeze it in the fridge and when you mix them together with the dry fruit and sunflower seeds, it creates a firm smooth texture that brings both the sour and sweet refreshing sensation to you early in the morning.
So far my favourite combinations are sweetened cranberries (if I spot a sale), white dried mulberry and sunflower seeds.
So what are my portions for each?
This round I actually purchased both plain and peach flavoured Greek yogurts to mix together, so that it is not too sour but at the same time still maintain equal low sugar intact for needs.
(I was searching high and low for my photos, but I couldn't find them. hm. Maybe I will edit it when I find them)
And for the portions for my mini jar (from Ikea):
I used,
1 1/2 tablespoon of plain greek yogurt - as the bottom layer
1 tablespoon of dried mulberry
1 tablespoon of sunflowerseeds
1 tablespoon of peach flavoured mixed greek yogurt
and top it up with a layer of sweetened cranberry
And if you noticed there's home grown tag in my picture, recently my potted black mulberry tree has a really huge fruit produced and I harvested it.
It doesn't fruit much but each of them was just big enough for me to pick to add into this mix; as if it knows I don't eat that much anyway.
Well, a healthy fresh organic mix into my concoction!
Hope you have found this home made recipe as useful as I have enjoyed preparing it.
And still, this cost only about 1 USD
Not to bad for a healthy budget meal, eh?
Thank you for your time
