It's been over 4 months since I last wrote about my craft beer bottles collection. Instead of showing random beer bottles, I've decided to be a bit more organised and do them by colours. Today we'll start off with the blues. I also got the greens, reds, yellow, and clear bottles.
I got six blueish bottles in my collection. By the way, do you notice how 'professionally' I've done my photos today? The things you do when you're bored during lockdown😀
Harbour Brewing is a relatively new beer, they've only been around since 2012. I love the simple H on their branding giving it a very young energetic impression. Apart from beer, they also do a range of clothes, and beer glasses, water bottles all with their distinctive stylish H logo. Anyway, back to the beer, this is their classic Cornish bitter, Cornwall being UK's most south-westerly peninsula, and bitter being a type of pale ale in Britain.
Atlantic is another type of pale ale. There's a very 'sea-y' feel about this, perhaps it's the name and the light blue on the label that makes me think of the sea. According to their pairing notes, this pale ale is good for battered fish or mild cheese, two very different flavour foods, which I find kind of odd. And apparently, they say you can taste a hint of candy floss. I don't remember ever drinking any candy floss, so I'll put that down to marketing jumble. That said, Altantic has won the bronze prize in the 2019 World Beer Award so it must be doing something right.
Goram IPA is a local beer produced by Butcombe brewery from my neck of the woods. Rumour has it that Goram is a local legendary giant. I Googled that as I've never heard of it before, I mean it's a local beer and it's natural that I want to find out more about it and the legends. Guess what turned up on my search? Nothing! Don't you just love it when marketeers always weave in a bit of mysterious folklore in their products.
The other two blues I want to talk about are the Riggwelter and Adnam Ghost Ship. Riggwelter is from Yorkshire, a part of England with the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park. The name Riggwelter is a local Yorkshire farming word that orginates from the Nordics, and refers to a sheep that has fallen on its back and can't get back up on its own. The Riggwelter is at 5.7% ABV, one of the higher ones in my collection. It's 5.9% on the tap.
Whilst we're on interesting things about Yorkshire, did you know that in the 2016 Rio Olympics, Team GB came second in the medals table? But the interesting about that, is, if Yorkshire was a country, if would have come 17th in the Rio Olympics medal table, ahead of New Zealand, Canada and South Africa (source) . Don't you love it when you pick up these random trivia when reading a Hive post? 😀
Last and not the least, is the Adnam Ghost Ship. It's a pale ale and was first produced in 2010 for Halloween. It's brewed in Suffolk on the east coast of England and is inspired by a local 600 year haunted pub and the smuggling ships, hence the slogan Hauntingly Good Beer on the bottle neck.
I read a post by today, he had a video drinking session with
last night, and guess what he was drinking on a Saturday night? Yup, he was drinking the Adnams Ghost Ship. I started writing this post yesterday, how eerie is that 👻
I had my bottle of Ghost Ship a while ago, no tasting notes from me as they all taste the same to me. So I've nicked 's notes from his post where he says "a 4.5% citrus pale ale with a hoppy kick." My mussels were delicious though, I love mussels.
