As many of you know I am currently back in Germany, enjoying time at my home town in Bavaria. Autumn has arrived and it's getting more colorful and cold every day. Last week we changed the time and it's getting dark early :S - So every time the sun is coming out we try to take advantage of the day and spend time in our wonderful environment.
Yesterday we spontaneously decided to hike up the Heimgarten, do the crossover to Herzogstand and climb back down again. One last time before I drive to Vienna and Krakow next week ;)
We started a bit late and went straight up for 1,5 hrs until we got to the first beautiful viewpoint seeing the Alps and lakes around.
From there we went another hour uphill until we got to the summit cross of Heimgarten.
At this cross we had a wonderful view towards the alps and the walchensee lake.
Also we could see the path were we had to cross over to get to Herzogstand, which would take us another 1,5 hrs. We had to hurry a bit cause we started the trip late and it started to get a bit dark.
At some point it got really foggy and cold but super mystical! I loved how the light went through all this fog!
From one moment to the other it was super foggy and then totally clear again! - So we just went on climbing the rocks, enjoying this wonderful view!
When we arrived at the second summit cross the sun went slowly down and the view was just stunning!!
We enjoyed it for a bit and then went almost running downhill cause we didn't want to get in the dark and we still had 2 hours to go.
Of course that was impossible and it got dark soon so the last hour we walked with our phone light on until the parking lot next to the lake. - It was quite an adventure and in the end we were super happy but totally tired from the day; so we decided to drive to our favorit restaurant and have some awesome dinner before going home and rest.
At this moment for me there could be nothing better than a well deserved really nice cooked meal: steak with truffle pasta.
We had a great dinner and went straight home to rest ;) - I am always surprised about the beauty of my home area. After all my travels I still think its one of the most beautiful areas I know and I appreciate having time and friends to enjoy our nature.
You should definitely check it out if you are close to the Alps. Happy weekend everyone! - I hope you don't get to cold ;)
Cheers,
Liz
