Last week Mama showed you three of her favourite budget beaters -
1. Cottage Pie or Shepherds Pie
2. Vegetarian Lentil Moussaka
3. Hearty Beef & Veg Hot Pot with Coke
Today she's going to show you a real speedy Bacon & Cheese Creamy Pasta that the whole family will love.
She's using Bacon but you can omit it if you're vegetarian.
So without further ado, here are the ingredients required for 6 servings, cost ZAR R78:
A little tip from Mama for those who don't know - to peel tomatoes easily, drop them into a bowl of very hot water for a couple of minutes. The skins will just slide off easily.
Sautee sliced onions and crushed garlic in a little oil till it starts to caramelise.
Add diced tomatoes, herbs and seasoning of choice.
Cook 250g pasta, drain and place into oven dish - Mama divided it into 2 dishes, one will be frozen for another day.
Spoon cooked tomato mixture on top.
Mama made a medium thick Cheese Sauce with 3 cups Milk, a generous blob of butter, 3 tablespoons Cornflour & about 1 cup grated Cheese.
Smooth and creamy Cheese sauce.
Pour cheese sauce on top.
Sprinkle extra grated cheese on top.
Lastly top with raw diced Bacon, one dish was left plain.
Place under grill to brown cheese & crisp up the bacon.
Mama made this creamy Bacon & Cheese Pasta in no time at all, hastily served Papa Bear before he stole all those crispy bits of Bacon.
