I have the pleasure of having an eighty three year old lady that comes to me for art lessons - and has been with me for a few years.
She is an amazing person - still drives, sews, paints, knits as well as helping out in a wool shop for two days a week and enjoys a glass of wine or two with friends.
A few months ago, she was given a tablet and it has been wonderful for her being able to connect with her friends and family in Holland.
Every few days I get something sent to me on whatsapp from her - I always respond to her, but the other day I decided to start sending stuff to her that I felt she would enjoy.
Her response to me has been amazing and it has made me realize that there are many people out there that are really lonely and a simple message to let them know that you are thinking of them can brighten up their day so much.
Whether it is family or friends, make the effort to keep in contact - you never know what that person is going through and your message could be the means of helping them through any trials that they are experiencing.
Don't wake up one day and think "if only I had ..."
A simple message is all it takes.
