Hi lovely Steemit!! I have heard some many great things about the Steemit community that made me want to join!!
My name is Oscar (31yrs old) and I am a masters student studying in Taiwan! I am almost done, hopefully, this is my last semester (fingers crossed). I have been working really hard on my studies and finishing my thesis. I live in the city of Tainan. If you have the chance, you should definitely come visit this wonderful country.
I was born in California and by the age of 4, my parents decided to take me and my two brothers to Mexico. We lived there for a few years. According to my parents, they wanted my brothers (Cuco and Olmes) and I to learn Spanish and understand our culture. We moved to my grandma's house in the Sinaloa, Mexico.
She used to live in a tiny town with no more than 150 residents in the county of Mocorito. At first, my parents were afraid that we would have trouble adapting. Three American boys moving to a small town with no electricity or running water sounded like trouble. Mom and Dad were wrong, we loved it. I recall swimming in crystal clear rivers, riding horses/ donkeys, feeding salt to cattle, and even making brings from mud. To me, it was the best thing ever! It was the best time of my childhood! Until one day... my parents decided to move back to California.
Mom and Dad decided to settle down in a small city called Brawley, which is 1.5 hours East of San Diego. At the age of 8, going back was hard for me. Although Brawley is located in a large farming community, I disliked it because I could no longer spend time with farm animals, or go looking for wild berries, or even go fishing in crystal clear waters. I started adapting again slowly. I started making good friends and showed some improvement in my English skills. The only thing that I remember from that year was that Power Rangers were extremely popular, my first movie ever at the theaters was the Lion King, and a girl name Paola (who sat behind me) had a crush on me and loved eating her buggers.
By the time I reached High School, I spent most of my time studying, playing Halo, and going to every Math dance I could. Sounds nerdy, but were amazing times. After graduation, I decided to continue my studies and decided to continue my studies at CSU San Bernardino. I studied pre-med for three years until I took my first Chinese Mandarin course. This was a major turning point in my life. I changed from pre-med to International Business. I know...many people would think that it was not the right move...But thanks to this decision, I was able to do my undergraduate studies in Korea, Taiwan, and United States.
Thanks to that change, I became a global citizen. I can proudly say that I can speak Spanish, English, and Chinese Mandarin. I am in the process of learning Korean as a gift to myself and to my girlfriend Gabby. She lives in Busan, Korea both of us share this Steemit account. If you have the chance to follow us, you will see her cool artistic post. She is an amazingly talented person. She loves makes pottery, painting, and learning code.
We will be posting pictures of our projects and travels!!
We are really excited and looking forward to grow in this community!
