Short post tonight because I wound up doing day job stuff today that got in the way and may have also gotten involved with Sid Meier's Civilization again.
Oops.
I've also been reading through Carl Jung's Man and His Symbols, which is an absolutely interesting book.
Since Hwaet has to deal a lot with liminal spaces to capture the spirit of epic storytelling, it's worth noting that a lot of what goes into the conceptualization and functional consciousness versus subconsciousness ties directly into what we're doing.
This is where symbols and themes become important. I'm not sure how best to get those into Hwaet, but I'm going to do my darnedest to try. I'm picturing a system that has the GM make symbols that are background elements for the characters, sort of like a leitmotif, that is something that appears. Think the unicorn in Blade Runner, and you've got the right gist.
The question is how to pull it off well.
