This is Mitch the ball python! He's been a family pet of ours for just over a year, hes about 4 years old, and about 3 ft long. He's completely changed my opion on snakes. To be completely honest, I was terrified of him when he came home! Took me about a month to feel comfortable, and now I just think he's the best!
His favorite thing to do is hide! One of the reasons we decided to go with a ball python vs other kinds of snakes is how doctile he is. He was a pet for our 10 year old son, and some of the other breeds we looked at for beginner owners were pretty wiggly and hard for our son to handle.
I know snakes can get a bad rap but here are a few of the reasons that I think they make GREAT pets!
Eats every 5-7 days
No training
No pet hair all over the house
Doesnt require a ton of attention (besides making sure his tank temps/humidity are good)
Doesnt make any noise
Doesn't smell
AND he only poops about once a week.
