They say that consistency is the key to success, but occasionally, you have those days where you don't just stay consistent you soar. Today was one of those days for me. I am thrilled to share that I reached a new personal milestone for the week, clocking in a total of 12,588 steps on my Actifit tracker.
What made today’s walk special wasn't just the distance, but the hidden gems I discovered along my route. I stumbled upon this incredible mural featuring a wise looking fox surrounded by vibrant orange flowers and a green bird. It’s amazing how much art is tucked away in our daily paths if we only take the time to walk and look for it. This street art brought a huge smile to my face and gave me that extra boost of energy to keep going when I was nearing my initial goal.
Milestones and Motivation
Looking at my activity chart for today, May 12, you can see a very strong start in the morning and a steady flow of activity throughout the day. Reaching over 12,500 steps is a significant jump from my previous sessions, and it feels rewarding to see my AFIT balance grow to 20,827 tokens.
As my friend recently reminded me, the hardest part is often just starting. Whether it’s 5 minutes or an hour, movement is medicine. Today, those just five more minutes turned into a long, inspiring journey through the streets, proving that once you find your rhythm, the steps take care of themselves.
The Benefit of Urban Exploring
While I love the serenity of parks like Richmond Park, there is a different kind of energy in urban walking. Discovering murals like the one in my photo today reminds me that fitness doesn't always have to happen in a gym or on a track. It can be an exploration. Every corner turned is an opportunity to see something new, and every mural found is a reward for choosing to walk instead of drive.
My feet are definitely feeling the 12k effort tonight, but my mind feels clearer than ever. There is a specific kind of runner's high that you get from a long walk, a sense of accomplishment that carries over into every other part of your day.
Looking Ahead
As I head into the middle of the week, this 12k achievement has given me a lot of momentum. It’s a reminder that our bodies are capable of so much more than we think if we just give them the chance to move. To my fellow Actifitters and health enthusiasts keep pushing, keep exploring, and keep counting those steps.
