Hello my lovely Steemers! I’ve had this idea brewing on the back burner for a while now and I thought I would see if anyone appreciated it! The idea is to post an intermittent poll (perhaps daily or weekly) regarding photography for the Steem community to ponder and answer! Each question will be personal and thought provoking in order to stimulate genuine conversation and the sharing of photos/ ideas.
Here is the trial question that I am interested in discussing…
How did you become interested in photography?
Personally, I’ve always been a very artistic soul with a creative mind. I spent my youth reading and writing, but I especially appreciated the visual arts. I became enamored with film acting and eventually decided to go to college in order to study theatre. I was bit by the photography bug however when I stumbled across the photos of Rachel Baran.
Rachel Baran is an extremely talented photographer on Flickr and when I first saw her photos, I fell in love.
I felt an instant connection to the raw emotions she portrayed and became impressed when I recognized her specialization in surrealism. I took one look at this photo…
…and I thought That’s me. I don’t know how she did it, but she took a picture of how I feel.
It was a unique experience to see a visual representation of an internal emotional process. It was beautiful and liberating as well. I decided that I was going to do it someday too.
Finally I received a camera as a graduation gift from my aunt and uncle and I’ve been dabbling with photography ever since.
