Steemians - Greetings from London, UK.
Today has undeniably been a good day. Usually I'm a miserable bastard (although I have no right to be), but there's no denying that today went well. Until just now anyway, when my 7 week old kid projectile pooped all over me whilst being changed. Still...
This morning, I sort of went live with a side project business. I've been working on it part time with a close friend. We're building super cool, super refined Volkswagen camper van conversions. It's been a dream for ages, and now it's happening.
The idea is to build camper vans which look and feel like they could have come out of the VW factory, if the VW factory was a bit cooler. We want to offer a 'do it all' vehicle solution which is equally comfortable doing the weekday commute as it is being a weekend warrior for those who like a dose of adventure come Friday evening. And at sensible prices.
The business is called ULTRAWAGON and the first build (named #08) is based on a VW T5 Transporter I bought a few months ago as a builder's van. It is high mileage, but one owner, super clean and in a nice colour; the perfect base vehicle.
We finished the build itself last week. It's totally unique, featuring a functional camping interior with a brand new ultra simple bed system we've designed ourselves. The materials used come mainly from an aircraft manufacturer and a supplier to Aston Martin. The fit and finish are beautiful. Externally, the modifications are subtle and beneficial to the ride and handling. So today was all about adding a few finishing touches and then doing some photography, pre sale.
Now our first camper conversion is ready for it's new owner and we'll move on to the next vehicle - an ultra low mileage red T5 with elevating roof. Can't wait. In the meantime, this is how #08 is looking...
So that was good.
Then this evening I went for some Turkish food with a couple of friends, who happen to be founding Steemians and all round Crypto fanatics since early 2013. In fact they just got back a couple of weeks ago from the second SteemFest in lovely Lisbon (where they met Ned Scott himself and were totally starstruck).
They've been raving on about the Steemit platform for a long time now, and whilst I've always been interested, fascinated even, I just hadn't got round to getting involved. Shame on me.
Well now I have, so let's see. It's exciting to get started.
In the course of our meal, those guys also made me a few grand by informing my clueless crypto-moron self that I am now the proud owner of some Bitcoin Cash since I held Bitcoin when the Bitcoin Cash hard fork happened (ages ago). So I made my excuses, got the bill (obvs), rushed home, pressed a few buttons in my wallet and sure enough they were right.
So now I'm rich. Not really. But I am very grateful for their patient advise and assistance, as ever. We did talk about other stuff, but not much. That's the problem with all this blockchain stuff - it really is genuinely fascinating, but it does also tend to command most of the conversation at the dinner table. I'm into it - very into it - but I'm also very into real stuff like building cool camper vans. Variety is the spice of life etc.
Anyway, that was my Thursday and this was my first Steemit post.
Bye!
