A few weeks ago we went to the Louvre, and I've wanted to share this one painting that caught my eye. As you can easily spend your whole life in the Louvre, we had to decide what we wanted to see. The Mona Lisa (which is probably the most well known painting in the world) was on top of our list, well maybe second as the first was Venus de Milo (my mum has a replica at home, and I wanted to take a picture of myself with Venus for my mum ;) ). So after capturing a mug shot with Venus, we walked about a kilometer if not more towards Mona Lisa. I had this idea that Mona Lisa is the one for me, so I was amazed when I found myself stuck in front of this painting!
This one is probably the most beautiful painting I've seen in my life. I am not a religious person, so my attraction has nothing to do with the subjects of this painting, it is just the serene expression on mommy and baby's face. It seems to have a calming effect on my nerves (lol!). I hope it does the same for you :)
I suppose art is a very subjective thing and what you like probably depends on your state of mind and life experience. After this painting everything else, including Mona Lisa, just didn't speak to me.
And here is Venus de Milo:
I took these picture with my phone so it is not the way to appreciate fine art, but it gives you an idea of what there is out there apart from Mona Lisa and maybe inspire you to go to a museum near you and see all the excellent artists who left so much for us to enjoy!
