Located in the City of Cumaná, it is the oldest church in that city. It was built on top of the remains of a parish church, structurally made of three basilica ships divided by arches supported by columns and shafts; In its main front we find two bell towers, which are divided into four bodies and topped, each, by octagonal lanterns with a metal sheet and pinnacle dome; and in its center, an atrium with three arches stands out. In this temple the existence of 52 pits is conserved (although the exact places are not known with exactitude) in which they are buried significant personages of the Cumanesa society. On August 2, 1960, it was declared a National Historical Heritage according to Decree No. 26,320. It carries the name of Santa Inés which means the patron of purity according to the Catholic Church and is also one of the most popular saints in Christianity.

This church conserves several patrimonial pieces, among them a bell of 500 kilograms of bronze, (that recently was robbed, approximately at the end of March of this same year) and was exhibited in the lateral patio in a stone base, said bell It was part of the original church that was built between 1862 and 1866. However, it is known of the existence of the Parochial Church (1704) and the Hermitage of Carmen that preceded the Temple in this same place; and according to the historical data, its bases for the construction of the new Temple were taken advantage of.
