It is a pleasure for me to be back in this wonderful community. I would like to share with you just how wonderful it is to go hiking in one of Venezuela’s most beautiful mountains: Terepaima National Park.
As I mentioned in my previous post, I’ve been going on these walks with some friends since 2020, when we were in the midst of the pandemic. I used to go out for walks to get away from the lockdown we were in; that’s when I met them, and from then on we started going on daily walks full of adventures and stories.
On this occasion, we walked to Terepaima National Park along a completely different route – one that was a bit longer and steeper. We were guided along that route by a friend who frequently takes part in endurance races and who already knew the path we were to take very well.
We’re hiking along these more challenging trails to test our stamina, as our aim is to plan a hike along a much longer and more difficult route, which features tricky ascents and descents and leads to the Tabure ravine. Once we feel ready to tackle this long hike, that will be our goal.
For this Wednesday’s hike, we entered Terepaima National Park. We entered via the gate on the other side of the hill, near the village of El Roble. As it was a longer and more challenging hike, the journey was made more enjoyable with jokes and laughter, as we were a large group of friends and we encouraged one another, chatting about our lives to make the walk more bearable.
When we reached the summit, we were greeted by the stunning view that lay before us. The flowers were stunningly beautiful and the clouds provided a perfect backdrop to that imposing mountain. All the effort and all the difficulties of the journey were completely worth it and, above all, we realised that no matter what path we have to take, if we always stick together, our bonds of friendship make the journey lighter, and it is even more wonderful to reach the summit and share such a majestic view.
This applies both to hiking and to life in general; no matter what difficulties we face along life’s path, if we have the right people by our side, they always manage to turn a long, arduous journey into an easier one to navigate, filled with joy, laughter and happiness.
There are so many stories to tell and so many landscapes I’d like to show you on another occasion, on a new itinerary.
