During a team lunch with one of my foreign colleagues, he was looking for leche flan on the menu and can not find it. My other colleague asked one of the crew and the crew said it is in the menu as caramel custard. We laughed at our ignorance. All of us knew leche flan very well and never thought that it is the same as caramel custard.
That scenario reminded me of having leche flan as dessert after lunch earlier today.
I quickly went through the menu and ordered my lunch. Needless to say, I have few dishes as my favorites at Adobo Connection so it was an easy choice.
Aside from the caramel custard experience, this rolling still image on the TV on the wall made leche flan more tempting. So that is what I ordered for dessert. As the image implies, caramel custard is mainly made from eggs and milk.
As usual while waiting for my order, I try to observe the place where I dine. There were not much diners that time. Well, that is to be expected when you are having lunch at more than an hour passed lunch time.
The dining area on the first floor is limited but there are more seats upstairs. I dined up there a few times already but I prefer downstairs if there is an available table.
The caramel custard was served when I was starting my lunch. That was a fast service because desserts are usually served when you're already done with your main entré.
From the looks alone specially from the color, I can tell that it was cooked just right because it was not so dark nor pale.
How about the taste of the caramel custard? I can taste the milk that is very creamy but not so sweet. Good thing it is not bitter because yes, I experienced a burnt caramel custard. The flan was also soft and smooth that I can just sip and not bite or chew it. Indeed, it was prepared just right. For the price o P59.00 (US$ 1.25), that was a sweet indulgence.
