During my recent stay on Koh Samet, most of the days were bright and sunny. In fact, this was the only morning that was entirely cloudy.
A grey dawn
Most mornings when I crawled out of my cabin, the bright sun was already peeking over the eastern horizon and filling the sky with warm tropical light.
On this dawn, however, the sky was completely covered with thick grey clouds. For more than 2 hours after sunrise, not a single ray of direct light appeared through the heavy cloud cover.
The light pours down
Eventually, however, a break appeared in clouds, and the sunlight began to pour through. Rays of bright white sunlight shone through the crack in the clouds and reflected off the sea.
It took a few more hours before all the clouds drifted away, but, as evident in this photo, the mighty sun was not gonna let a few clouds stand in the way of its brilliance.
This is my entry in ’s Goldenhour Photography contest.
