This song is derived from a “ghazal” by the Urdu poet Ehsan Danish, who became known as the “Poet of the Workmen.” A ghazal is a traditional Arabic, bluesy love poem of sorts, typically expressing both the pain of lost love and the joy of love – regardless of and beyond the pain.
